About the Steven Wallace Maritime Trust

The Maritime Law Association of South Africa (MLA) firmly believes that quality education is a cornerstone to progress in South Africa. The late Mr Steven Wallace practiced maritime law in South Africa for many years, and through his work has made a solid contribution towards its development.

In order to honour the late Mr Steven Wallace and further support the cause of maritime education in South Africa, the MLA as founder has established the Steven Wallace Maritime Trust (the Trust).
The Trust is a public organisation in South Africa established to provide scholarships and bursaries to individuals (identified by the Trustees in their discretion) who:
Are studying or training, or who wish to study or train, to become legal practitioners in the field of maritime law.
Are legal practitioners in the field of maritime law and are studying or training, or who wish to study or train, further in the field of maritime law.
Are doing research in, or wish to do research in, the field of maritime law, whether they are legal practitioners in the field of maritime law or not.
